Cranium® Mega Fort Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My now 4 year old got this for Christmas last year and he uses it almost every day. Not in the way it is intended, of course, but still. It's fun to build the forts, but I've found that the foam "poles" aren't quite as stiff as they need to be at times to hold the fort up for very long...especially if the kids are boisterous in their play. It serves its fort purpose, though. My son mostly uses it to create "props" for the rest of his imaginary play. He's built a Doctor Octopus costume out of it (arms coming out of his back), a lawn edger, various flags that he and his brother parade around the house with, etc. There's always something with this thing. Some of the down sides are that the bag does not hold all of the pieces very well. There are pieces of this thing all around the house almost all the time. I would suggest getting a better plastic style storage container to keep it more contained. Also, if your kids tend to want to whack each other with things, you will need to supervise. The foam poles have hard ends on them and something about them seems to beg children to whack each other with them. It hurts getting hit by the hard end, though!
Great open-ended toy for big imaginations!

Cranium Super Fort Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My 5 year old son got this for Christmas 2006. Over 6 months later it is a reliable fav for our kids (1, 5, 7) and visiting kids (most have never seen it). Yes, the forts are NOT sturdy - SO WHAT? What fort that your kids ever makes, IS???? Endless creativity, team-building (ok - some arguing), nonstop activity. I'm most impressed with the creativity portion. I don't think my kids have ever made the same thing twice. And they incorporate parts of this fort with other play (like using a nylon wall for a trampoline for stuffed animals). I also like how it comes with a couple nice sacks for putting things away when you really want the mess gone. I HIGHLY recommend this product if you're thinking about it - get it! Enjoy!

Bug House Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My daughter received this as a gift when she was 2 1/2, after the birth of her sister.I thought I would hate it.We have a small house, and it was huge. But what could I do?She loved it.When we finished our basement, though, this became the favorite spot of not only my two children (the youngest used it before she could crawl), but of visiting children as well. The flexible design allows it to be a nap tent, a cave, a store, a book nook, a house, a rocket ship, and pretty much anything children can dream up.My kids love it, and now so do I.

I only gave 4 stars for 'durability' because a very reckless friend visited and jumped on top of the bug house enough times that one of the poles ripped through the fabric, so now I have to fix it.But as long as your children don't plan to jump on top of it, the durability is just fine. If you have the room, this really is a fun and much-used toy.

Eagle Sunrise Tunnel Tepees, 37.5"Length X37.5" Wide X51" Height, Green, Yellow & Red In Color Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The Tee-Pees were easy to assemble and fun for the kids. The downside is that the floor poles are exposed and break due to the kids catching their foot as they go in and out the main door.Tunnel is durable, however the thick metal ribs that support the tunnel have no real cushion. Kids complain that it hurts their knees as the crawl through it.I took a crawl and came to the same result with my elbows. I'm now searching for replacement poles.

Fortamajig Tent Toy Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)...we'd do the same thing with bedsheets and clothespins. We tented over half a 15' x 30' room one summer. Good times.

I don't own this toy so gave it's durability and fun a middle grade. If you're trying to get a good rating on that, disregard mine.

I don't see it as being educational at all per se, but I do think it could provide a setting for some imaginative play. I'm just not so sure it fills a need.

Be Amazing! Toys Build-a-Fort Dinosaur Tent Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I bought this tent because of it's simplicity. It's basically two sheets, two ropes, some clips and suction cups. You could actually make it from items around your house.Maybe it's psychological, but it's easier to let the kids leave up a tent, if the tent was made to be a tent.Sheets being strung around the house isn't quite the same and I always end up wanting them back.

My son tried out the rope and suction cups the first day.My husband helped him build a tent in the great room, which held up rather well. The rope isn't all that long, but there are two of them and my son ties them together.(Lest you wonder, it was the only time my husband had any hand in using this tent.)

My son then had a light bulb moment and decided he wanted a hideaway under his loft bed.The sheets were there until yesterday, when he and his sister decided they wanted to make an entrance to the stairway. This has been a most used gift.

My daughter now wants a tent. She already has a pop up one; but she wants sheets, like her brother has, one of her very own.Looks like we'll be buying the princess version of this tent next.

If you like simple children's toys and it doesn't bother you to buy a collection of things you might already own and can put together yourself, I recommend this toy.

Pirates Tent and Tunnel Combo Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Our 2 1/2 year old son is already over 38" and wears 4T's, so I wanted something he could comfortably stand/play in, crawl through and maybe nap/sleep.The size of this play tent is more than adequate, the colors are vibrant, there are plenty of ways to view/peek in/out, great ventilation and it will allow him a 'secret' place to play (but not rough and tumble). It exceeded my expectations. It allows for spatial learning (how much stuff can I fit in this area) and plenty of imagination. As a family, we LOVE anything piratey and this fits the bill.ARRRGH!!!
