Cranium® Mega Fort Review

(More customer reviews)My now 4 year old got this for Christmas last year and he uses it almost every day. Not in the way it is intended, of course, but still. It's fun to build the forts, but I've found that the foam "poles" aren't quite as stiff as they need to be at times to hold the fort up for very long...especially if the kids are boisterous in their play. It serves its fort purpose, though. My son mostly uses it to create "props" for the rest of his imaginary play. He's built a Doctor Octopus costume out of it (arms coming out of his back), a lawn edger, various flags that he and his brother parade around the house with, etc. There's always something with this thing. Some of the down sides are that the bag does not hold all of the pieces very well. There are pieces of this thing all around the house almost all the time. I would suggest getting a better plastic style storage container to keep it more contained. Also, if your kids tend to want to whack each other with things, you will need to supervise. The foam poles have hard ends on them and something about them seems to beg children to whack each other with them. It hurts getting hit by the hard end, though!

Cranium Super Fort Review

Foam Town USA - Foam Sweet Home Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this for my three kids: a girl (6), a boy (3) and a baby girl (9 months).We received it over a week ago, and it's still the number one toy in our house.It took around 20 minutes to set up the first time with two adults and two wee "helpers."I'm sure it will take even less time next time we set it up, now that we're familiar with all the parts and where they go.

I love this product because it provides a medium for creative, interactive play, especially between my older kids.They play in it for hours on end, constantly imagining different scenarios.

The little peripherals (flowers, chimney, awnings, etc.) get thrown around a lot, but it's not hard to gather them in when it's cleanup time.

The baby loves this house, too, and loves to practice her standing and chewing on the walls.The circle punch-outs in the centers of the flowers are a bit of a choking hazard, so I clear those out when she's around.I also try to keep her from chewing on one place for too long, as she could potentially chew a piece off (although she hasn't yet because it's very sturdy foam).

The house is quite durable for a foam product.Both my kids have tried to climb on top of it, and although it buckled a bit and the pieces popped out of place, it's still standing and none the worse for the wear.

Once we've had our fill, I'll collapse it back down (it came with a nifty storage case), and plan to store it under the baby's crib until it's been away long enough to be fun again.

One last note- it does NOT stink.I was so worried it would have a horrible plastic smell that you sometimes get with foam products, but definitely no observable odor!

(More customer reviews)My daughter received this as a gift when she was 2 1/2, after the birth of her sister.I thought I would hate it.We have a small house, and it was huge.But what could I do?She loved it.When we finished our basement, though, this became the favorite spot of not only my two children (the youngest used it before she could crawl), but of visiting children as well.The flexible design allows it to be a nap tent, a cave, a store, a book nook, a house, a rocket ship, and pretty much anything children can dream up.My kids love it, and now so do I.

I only gave 4 stars for 'durability' because a very reckless friend visited and jumped on top of the bug house enough times that one of the poles ripped through the fabric, so now I have to fix it.But as long as your children don't plan to jump on top of it, the durability is just fine. If you have the room, this really is a fun and much-used toy.
